Flamecamellia (焱椿) — the artistic identity of Los Angeles–based violinist, composer, and vocalist Yenju Chen — forges a world where classical tradition collides with noise, metal, and folk ritual. Her work merges modern string performance and classical training with experimental noise textures, metal aesthetics, and deep research in global folk music, particularly from Southeast Europe and the Balkans.

Her single Kosame reimagines the Japanese enka tradition through layers of noise and voice, accompanied by a striking music video that has reached over 40,000 views on YouTube. Constantly active across social media, Flamecamellia engages an international audience with covers, original pieces, and glimpses into her creative process. Her upcoming single Liu continues this trajectory — an opera aria transformed into a noise-driven performance piece — expanding her vision of how classical repertoire can be reshaped through modern sound.
In addition to her solo work, she has developed an extensive practice in Balkan and Southeast European folk traditions, weaving them into original compositions that combine raw violin energy with heavy, experimental soundscapes. This cross-cultural approach reflects her commitment to building bridges between heritage and innovation, ritual and rebellion.

A graduate of CalArts with a Master of Fine Arts, Flamecamellia has performed at venues including YouTube Theater, Zebulon, Hotel Café, and Knucklehead Hollywood. Whether on stage or online, her performances invite audiences into a world of intensity, elegance, and transformation — where strings scream, folk songs bloom, and noise becomes symphony.
